Greeks Americans for Ben Graber
Kick out Robert Wexler 2008
In Florida's 2008 District 19th congressional race, pro- Greece/Cyprus Independent Democrat candidate Dr. Ben Graber is running against pro-Turkish Congressman Robert Wexler. Dr. Graber was in the Florida State Representatives while Wexler was in the Florida State Senate before 1996. Wexler was elected to congress in 1996 with 47.4% in the 1996 primary against three other candidates. Wexler would have lost the 1996 primary if he had one opponent. After 1996, Graber served six years as Broward County Commissioner and Mayor.
Since 1996, Wexler has never faced a competitive race. In previous years, he had no serious challengers. The 19th district is a competitive race. The 19th District is 50% Democrat, 25% Independent, and 25% Republican. The district encompasses Boca Raton, Broward Counties. Within the district, there are numerous Greek Orthodox churches, such as St. Mark's Greek Orthodox Church of Boca Raton, Florida and thousands of Greek Americans surrounding the community.
Since 1996, Robert Wexler founded the Turkish Caucus in the House of Representatives. He helped to raise this caucus to 80 congressmen at the expense of the Hellenic Caucus. He rose to become Chair of the Subcommittee on Europe within the House Foreign Affairs Committee in 2007. For many years, Wexler took a pro-Turkish occupation stance on Cyprus. He has traveled to Turkey numerous times. In a provocative stance, Robert Wexler's staffer, Jonathan Katz, flew with pro-Turkish Congressman Edward Whitfield and other staffers to Turkish Illegally occupied Cyprus. Wexler's staffer flew illegally into the illegal Tymbou Airport from Istanbul despite strong protest from the Cypriot government, and Greek American organizations in August 2005. Wexler did all this even though he has more Greek Americans living and working in the 19th district than Turks. What made Wexler pro-Turkish?
Robert Wexler's palms are greased with thousands of dollars from Turkish government sponsored lobbies like the Turkish Coalition of America, DLA Piper, etc. in Washington DC. He is an active and unrepentant Armenian Genocide Denier, and denies the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Wexler has never made statements in his career as Congressman to denounce the Turkish criminal invasion and 40,000 Turkish troop illegal occupation of Cyprus. Wexler speaks regularly about Turkey as if he is the Prime Minister of that nation. He is a foreign agent of the Turkish government that does not serve the interests of the Greek American constituency of the 19th district.
In a recent incident, Robert Wexler committed residency fraud because he has not lived in the 19th district since 1999. His official Florida address was his in-laws in an adult community. This has been exposed in all Florida newspapers and TV. 19th district voters are outraged at Wexler's hidden lies. How can a person represent Florida if he does not live there, pay taxes, nor if his kids attend local schools? Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) flies home to Florida to be with his wife and four kids who attend Florida area schools each Thursday night. Wexler, the Turkey appeaser, rarely comes to the 19th district and has taken the district for granted.
Dr. Graber in January 2008 held a rally with Greeks, Armenians, and Serbs in a Boca Raton park to support recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the Cyprus effort to remove Turkish illegal troops of occupation, and Serbia's claim to Kosovo. Graber has an excellent local record to boost. He is a champion of women's rights, against amnesty for illegals, and is pro-business. Graber passed legislation in Florida to provide affordable health insurance. In addition, he passed legislation to improve Florida's Medicaid system. Graber has tackled tough issues through proven leadership. Graber champions human rights, justice, international law, and the rule of law. Wexler champions human-rights-abusing foreign governments like Turkey.
